Pioneer SX-636 not working

Postby aidanahunter » Mon Feb 15, 2010 9:49 am

I recently bought an SX-636 on ebay for 20 bucks before shipping. All of the lights work and the only flaw was that there's a crack in the face plate near the tuning dial. Last night I was listening to it and it sounded like the right side was cutting in and out. I wasn't sure if it was the radio or the receiver since I'm using a dinky piece of speaker wire for an antenna. Turns out it was the receiver. This morning I turned it out and it worked for a few seconds, but then all I got out of the right side was cracking and a hum. I left it on for a little bit and checked on it and smelled something burning. It wasn't the receiver, it was the speaker. I turned it off and I've tested it a few times since but I still get the same thing. Left side works as it should. I'm a senior in high school with minimal experience, but I've been accepted to the engineering school at University of Michigan Ann Arbor, so I'm not an idiot. Anybody know how to fix this?

Never mind. After taking it apart and cleaning the dust out it fixed itself.

Ha! The best kinds of fixes are those that fix themselves. I've had the same thing happen many times. :)
